Nextbit is a company that gathered plenty of attention when it introduced the Robin, a smartphone focused on seamlessly offering cloud backup for apps and media.

The Robin itself was an interesting looking handset, too, which helped the device stand out on its own. But those days are coming to an abrupt end, as Nextbit has officially announced that it has been acquired by Razer, a company that made a name for itself with gaming accessories, and has ultimately started releasing high-end laptops as well.

With the acquisition, the Nextbit team will be focusing on “mobile design and experiences,” and they will be working as a wholly independent entity within Razer from this point on:

“Nextbit will operate as an independent division inside Razer, focused on unique mobile design and experiences. To put it simply, we’ll be doing exactly what we’ve been doing all along, only bigger and better.”

As for the products Nextbit has been selling: Sales are halted indefinitely, including Robin hardware and accessories. Nextbit is closing sales from its official channels. It’s worth noting that the company will honor Robin warranties for the next six months, and that security patches will be released up until February 2018.
